IAU operates on a semester calendar that starts in fall and ends in summer. There are two semesters (Fall and Spring) per calendar year and one Summer vacation. One semester is 16 weeks. However, each semester is divided into two sessions, each eight weeks long.

FALL (Sep-Dec)SPRING (Jan-Apr)SUMMER (May-Aug)
Session 1 (Sep-Oct)Session 1 (Jan-March)Session 1 (May-Jun)
Session 2 (Oct-Dec)Session 2 (Mar-Apr)Session 2 (Jun-Aug)

Each course is 8 weeks. A course is broken into 8 Lesson intervals to measure Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP). Therefore, each Lesson is completed in 1 week. This gives opportunities for the professor to guide, assist, and support students’ learning process. Within each Lesson, a student will be provided instructions and details as to how to complete the Lesson. Each Lesson is comprised of various activities or assessments to measure students’ level of mastery of various subject areas. Specific Chapters are assigned to read, discussion questions to be completed, or case studies to be analyzed.

Course Offerings

The Course Offerings document displays all available courses being offered for the term.

Regular Hybrid vs. Intensive Schedule

IAU offers flexible course formats to accommodate different learning styles and schedules. The Regular Hybrid Schedule splits students into Cohorts A and B, with lessons lasting 4 hours each. Cohort A meets on campus during odd weeks (1, 3, 5, 7) and joins via video conference on even weeks (2, 4, 6, 8), while Cohort B follows the opposite pattern.

For students preferring a faster-paced option, the Intensive Schedule condenses the curriculum into shorter, focused weeks. Weeks 1 and 8 feature 8-hour on-campus sessions, while lessons in Weeks 2–7 are primarily conducted via video conference. Certain weeks may have no classes or adjusted meetings due to holidays or instructor schedules.

For questions regarding scheduling, contact [email protected]. For questions regarding assignment deadlines and which two class meetings will be dismissed between weeks 2-7 for the intensive schedule, please contact your instructor.
