Effective Fall 2022, IAU will adopt a traditional semester calendar. Since inception, IAU has operated on a trimester calendar starting in January and ending December. Effective Fall 2022, IAU’s semester academic Calendar will start in September and end in August.
The change will mostly impact IAU internally. The reason for the change was to operate more like a traditional institution for data reporting purposes. IAU’s oversight agencies, including the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) and its accreditors, the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (TRACS) and Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), are more accustomed with traditional semester academic calendars.
As a student or instructor, you may not notice anything different. IAU will continue to enroll students six times per year. IAU’s academic terms will span 16 weeks, while classes continue to span eight weeks. There will be no school breaks in between each session, but there will be a one or two week school break in between academic terms. As a reminder, new F-1 students who start in the Fall shall be eligible for Summer Annual Vacation (May-Aug) the following year.
