MBA-MIS, 2026

March, 2026

My MBA-MIS at IAU helped me regain confidence in my research skills and broadened my understanding of employee management across different countries. Courses like Employment Law, Marketing, HR Management, and Financial Management gave me valuable knowledge on building and managing a business.

Are you currently employed?

I still own a business and a Corporate Secretary position in a Corporation in my home country, but none yet in the United States as I need the approval of my Post-Graduation OPT before doing so.

Were you able to apply what you learned at IAU to your work?

Yes, after almost a decade of focusing on working in my chosen field and recently returning to pursue my MBA, I certainly feel that I have regained confidence in my research capabilities, which I thought I had lost. It also broadened my understanding of the differences in employee management styles across various countries.

Which methods, lessons, and instructors did you find helpful?

The methods and lessons that I found most useful were Employment Law courses, as I am planning to own a business, as well as the step-by-step approach to building one. Although I learned many things throughout the program, these were the areas I focused on the most because they aligned closely with my goals.

Among the instructors, I appreciated all of them, but in terms of helpfulness to students, I would especially recognize Dr. Sanaz Tehrani. For thoroughness in teaching, I would highlight Professor Nicholas Lodge. His classes were challenging, but I learned a great deal from them.

I enjoyed learning from all of the instructors, although some implemented forced groupings, which felt like a double-edged sword because sometimes you get lucky with your group, while other times you end up doing most of the work on your own.

The IAU staff have all been wonderful. Every inquiry I had was addressed promptly and professionally. I have said this many times through email and in person, but I would like to say it again—thank you to the entire IAU staff, and I wish all of you the very best.

What particular classes/programs were beneficial?

Employment Law, Marketing, HR Management, and Financial Management come to mind as the most beneficial courses in my case. Although every class is important and may be more beneficial to others depending on their goals, I chose these courses because they align closely with the career path I want to pursue.

What benefits did you gain in terms of planning your career?

One of the greatest benefits I gained was the knowledge of how to start a business from the ground up, from planning to implementing those plans step by step. I also learned the importance of protecting future employees and ensuring that their rights are upheld as a top priority.

As for networking, I am naturally more introverted, so I missed some opportunities despite receiving invitations. Instead, I often chose to stay home and spend time with my family.

Do you have comments about the program flexibility, class size, and workload?

It’s good. The classes are not too crowded, and the workload is manageable once you get the hang of it. For future students, I would say to stay focused and complete your tasks early so you will not have to request extensions on submissions. Also, learn how to navigate Moodle as early as possible.

What is your message or suggestion to the IAU staff?

Thank you to the amazing IAU staff! I hope you continue to maintain your high standards in handling students and addressing their concerns.

Do you have any additional comments?

I would love to share more of my experience as it develops. Since my CPT is the closest experience I have so far, I would say that staying organized, keeping a clear plan, and breaking down tasks at hand have certainly helped me a lot.
