In partnership with Daybreak University Counseling Center, IAU is proud to offer free, confidential counseling services to support the mental health and wellbeing of our students, staff, faculty, and their families.

Program Overview

IAU–Daybreak University Counseling & Wellness Partnership

IAU is partnering with Daybreak University, a graduate institution located in Anaheim, CA offering master’s and PhD programs in Marriage & Family Therapy and Clinical Counseling.

Through this partnership, IAU students, staff, faculty, and their immediate families residing in California have access to free, confidential therapy services delivered by Daybreak University Counseling Center as part of its clinical training and community outreach mission.

 

Program Goals:
  • Support emotional wellbeing and mental health within the IAU community.

  • Provide accessible, culturally responsive counseling services.

  • Offer supervised clinical training opportunities for Daybreak University graduate students.

  • Strengthen inter-institutional collaboration focused on student and community wellness.

Free Online & On-Site Counseling
Daybreak University Counseling Center offers up to 15 free therapy sessions to eligible participants for a one-time $10 therapy request fee. Additional services or continued sessions beyond the free offering may involve fees determined by the provider.

Fees, session limits, and services are determined by the provider and may change without notice. IAU does not collect fees, manage billing, or guarantee pricing.
 

Available Support Includes:
  • Individual therapy

  • Couples counseling

  • Family and child therapy

  • Anxiety, stress, and depression support

  • Relationship and life transition counseling

  • Academic and career-related stress

  • Trauma-informed counseling

Service Features:
  • Safe, confidential, and student-focused care.

  • Remote, on-site, and multilingual options for California residents.

  • Services provided by Master’s-level Marriage & Family Therapy trainees under licensed supervision.

 

Emergency Notice:

This service is not intended for crisis situations. In emergencies, call 911 or your local county crisis line immediately.

Eligible Participants Include:
  • IAU students, faculty, and staff residing in California
  • Family members residing in California

Services are available only to clients physically located in California during sessions.

All counseling services are delivered by Daybreak University therapists or supervised graduate trainees and comply with:

  • Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
  • California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) clinical training regulations
  • Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) – No academic records or performance will be shared with Daybreak

IAU does not receive details about individual counseling sessions.

All counseling services are provided in accordance with professional ethical guidelines and are closely supervised to ensure safe, responsible, and high-quality care.

  • Counselors adhere to CAMFT, ACA, and APA ethical standards
  • All therapy sessions are supervised by licensed clinicians from Daybreak University
  • Licensed Supervisor: Nichole Hydaryacil, LMFT (108460)

Trainees are not licensed or registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.

Services

Free Online & On-Site Counseling

Daybreak University Counseling Center offers up to 15 free therapy sessions to eligible participants for a one-time $10 therapy request fee. If you wish to continue therapy beyond the free sessions, online sessions are $10 for 50 minutes, in-person sessions at the CFT Center are $20 for 50 minutes, and psychological testing fees vary depending on the assessment.

The center is non-profit, and payments are treated as donations to support individuals and families in need. For more information about the services, refer to the Counseling Request Form.

IAU periodically reviews external wellness resources offered to our community. If you are part of the IAU community and voluntarily used Daybreak University’s counseling services, you may choose to share feedback anonymously.

Is this service really free?

Yes, you can get 15 therapy sessions for free after paying a one-time $10 therapy request fee. Additional fees apply if you wish to continue therapy beyond the free sessions.

Will my professors or supervisor know I am attending therapy?

 No. All sessions are confidential under HIPAA laws.

Who provides the therapy?

Therapy is provided by an unlicensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) Trainee who is completing clinical training toward licensure and works under clinical supervision.

Can international students use the service?

At this time, services are available only to California residents due to California state licensure regulations.

How many sessions can I receive?

Most participants receive 6–12 sessions, depending on availability. Either the client or the therapist may choose to end therapy at any time. If therapy ends, the therapist may recommend one or more closing sessions to review progress and provide referrals if needed.
