If you successfully pass those steps, the visa application file is sent by Campus France to the Embassy and Consulate.

In any case, the « Student Affairs » department is available to provide you with information and, if possible, to accompany you for all administrative matters such as Long-term student visa, renewal of residence permit, but also registration to the social security (medical insurance), registration for the CAF – Caisse d’Allocation Familiale (for the student housing grant), and subscription to additional coverage (such as private insurance).

The University does not have dormitory facilities under its control. Housing is the responsibility of the student. Single bedroom apartments and rooms for rent in the city of Bordeaux costs around €650 per month. However, our Student Affairs Department will do everything in its power to make your stay with us as rewarding as possible and to make you feel like IAU Bordeaux is your home away from home. We can assist you with locating a local homestay or assist you in finding an appropriate place to live. We can also provide information about the local neighborhoods, including popular restaurants, shopping areas, parks and recreation, and public transportation.

BORDEAUX STUDENT LIFE
Welcome to the world’s top tourist destination!

“The more you start feeling like a true Bordelais…
…the more your academic success is guaranteed!”

Studying in Bordeaux means joining one of the most student-friendly, dynamic, and culturally vibrant cities in France. That’s why we do everything possible to ensure that every student arriving at the university can enjoy all the advantages the city has to offer.

After familiarizing yourself with the public and private services that will make your daily life easier (transportation, financial aid, tourism, etc.), we will introduce you to the best local activities to brighten your free time throughout the year.

Sports, culture, social events… Bordeaux is full of organizations and associations dedicated to helping residents enjoy their favorite activities, whatever they may be, and at a pace that suits them best.

From the moment you arrive, you will join the IAU Bordeaux student community, receive a welcome guide, and be offered a guided tour of the city so that you can immediately get to know its most important and iconic places.

Bordeaux is, among other things:

A listed Unesco World Heritage site

831,500 inhabitants in 2023

6.6 million passengers in 2023 by air

Named “Top Tourism Destination” in 2017 by the Los Angeles Times

Bordeaux has around ten public libraries spread throughout the city.
