Jim Cummings Journey

When pursuing church ministry, I always thought teaching would be a part of my vocation. Little did I know that working in education would come to dominate my calling and be my career, both as an instructor and as an administrator. While I continue doing very limited pastoral work as an ordained deacon, my everyday job for the past twenty or so years has been in higher ED administration. The job of a deacon is one of service, but also has its educational aspects in preaching, directing retreats, promoting religious education, and offering catechesis & faith enrichment. Petra Deeter Journey

People often ask me “when did you move to Los Angeles?”, and by that, what they really mean is “when did you start pursuing acting?” LA is such a mirage that thousands land here each day, from all around the world, to pursue that ever elusive dream of being on the silver screen. That’s why anyone who is here in acting “must have” come here to LA to pursue acting. I didn’t.

Joseph Siegmund Journey

When reflecting on the journey of the past 7 years, a journey through academics, work, family and faith, it is amazing to realize the capacity of the human being and our ability to find balance in our lives. I completed my Ph.D. in Business Administration from Northcentral University in April 2017, a journey which included many challenges of managing full time employment, raising 3 children, balancing my relationship with my wife and during my final steps, caring for and saying goodbye to my father and grandmother.

Everything I do today is inextricably linked to my past and our family values. Everything. I have faced revolution, war, property losses, financial disasters, and difficulties, but they all made me a “tough guy”. None of these, however, made me tough enough to face my darling wife’s unexpected life-threatening illness: cancer. Despite her health condition, she supported me to continue my studies. I vividly remember sitting in her doctor’s office while the doctor explained her findings to us. All this “tough guy” could do was cry!

Domestic Faculty

Domestic professors in America play a pivotal role in fostering a dynamic and enriching educational environment. Their key value lies in their deep understanding of the local academic landscape, contributing to students’ cultural and contextual learning experiences. Unlike international faculty, domestic professors bring a nuanced perspective to the classroom, integrating local relevance into their teaching methods and curriculum, thus enhancing students’ overall understanding of societal and academic nuances within the United States.

International Faculty

To support the international presence of IAU at its StudyCenters and International Satellite Campuses, IAU retains qualified faculty from around the world. International faculty members’ education have been evaluated by recognized NACES members to ensure that qualifications are equivalent to U.S. regionally accredited institutions. International faculty from other countries bring diversity in experience, education and ideas that can not be quantified. IAU is proud and honored to have amazing faculty from around the world to enrich the IAU students’ learning experience.

The Russian language gives me access to the Slovenian group of languages such as Bulgarian, Ukrainian, Poland, and the other languages of all eastern European countries. I published media articles in several newspapers in Bahrain.

In Jordan, I participated in government programs for small businesses. I participated in studies conducted by the Ministry of Planning of Jordan; it was about activating the administrative governor’s role in the social-economic development of provinces. I designed and implemented specialized training courses for governmental departments and institutions in human resource training.

“I am grateful to have a chance to express my goal, mission and vision to International American University,” says Professor Cho. Academia has always had an impact on shaping her character, as it was during her studies at Azusa Pacific University (APU), Master of Art, and Organizational Leadership in 2008 when she discovered her self-identity, gifts from God, and the Leadership. The Leadership program taught her that she is uniquely created by the Lord for a unique mission, which is the combination of art, leadership and education. The Lord endows Professor Jean Cho with great passion for teaching leadership with the power of art.

Through teaching art and leadership at a church, at a school, and in the community after graduating in the APU leadership program, she learned the great value and dignity of students’ lives as well as her calling from God. Professor Cho states that the most rewarding aspect of teaching students is to see radical transformation in their lives:

  • Positive attitudes and optimism of life are created.

  • Her teachings have strengthened relationships between her students and their families, established the love of their nation, and empowered them to yearn for global leadership.

Professor Cho believes organizational Leadership can be a vehicle of communication of the glorious gospel. Education provides students with great opportunity for success and life fulfillment. It changes life. She is deeply convinced that educating and equipping leaders is the best way to transform the lives of people. When she teaches students, she comes with a great desire to help students to find out their God-given gifts and self-esteem so that they would have clear-cut goals, vision, and a mission to fulfill their calling by the Lord.

My name is Ira Lovitch, and I am excited about being your facilitator for two main reasons. First, I thoroughly enjoy the unique challenges and rewards of teaching in an online environment. Secondly, I am pleased to associate myself with an educational institution with foundational principles that enhance, in my view, the teaching of courses related to business, technology and management.

My CV states that I am a seasoned executive team leader in sales, marketing, and general management, working with organizations in the advertising, public relations, telecommunications, natural resource, construction, and financial services industries, and that I have successfully deployed organizational development strategies for over 20 years in a wide range of markets and industries, both globally and nationally. I received my MBA from the University of Phoenix, and my BA from California State University. I am currently completing my DBA (Doctorate) at IAU with a focus upon managing organizational knowledge.

In addition, my true occupational passion is teaching and training, in which I have been fortunate to engage at a variety of on ground and online universities and colleges, as well as in corporate settings as a coach and trainer. With deference to my wonderful wife and family, there is no more gratifying experience than I receive from a student when it is apparent that I have been the catalyst for their educational growth and development.

On the personal side, I am applying daily the lessons learned from life to be a better husband, father, friend and citizen of this great nation. My favorite pastimes include travel and music. I am an amateur songwriter and guitar player, and love to perform when asked.

Proctor, Andrea, M.A.

M.A. in Communication; California State University, San Bernardino; San Bernardino, CA

B.A. in Communication; Brigham Young University; Provo, UT

My third-grade teacher, Mrs. Nelson, once wrote on my report card: “Andrea is an enthusiastic student, but sometimes her talking interrupts class.”

This statement could not ring truer, as it’s the best way to describe me and my career destiny.  From a young age, my intrinsic passions have been people and learning. This was reflected in my studies when I pursued a bachelor’s and master’s degree –in Communications.  Shocking, I know.

From my master’s program, I continued my quest for learning and working with people in higher education where I served as a career counselor, academic advisor, and adjunct professor. In the role of a professor, I taught my favorite subjects: people, culture, and, of course, Communications.

Surprise Mrs. Nelson, I became a teacher!

My life mantra is inspired by a Victor Frankl, a Holocaust concentration camp survivor. He stated, “When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.” He felt that wherever we go we can find our own happiness. If we find ourselves in a situation where we are not happy, we then have to change ourselves.

Lastly, if you ever have any ideas to improve my courses and if you have done something in the past that you have enjoyed in another course, please let me know! I love receiving insight from my students and implementing their ideas in the classroom.

I am currently an Associate professor in the finance department and a Vice Dean for Student Affairs at the Arab Academy for Science and Technology (AAST) in Egypt. Twelve academic published articles in different International journals in the finance area, 142 citations, 7(h-index), 5 (i-index) according to Google Scholar citation. Given the diversity of my research, all of my research findings tackle fundamental and critical problems that can be formulated as elegant probability models and analyzed correspondingly. The main focus in the solution process of my work is to design a provably efficient investment environment for Emerging Capital Markets (ECMs) provided with their complexity analysis. Full-time Ph.D. and Master’s Degree from Sheffield Hallam University (SHU) from the United Kingdom (UK), and twenty-three years of experience working as a university teacher. My teaching philosophy reflects my interest in collaborative authorship. Instead of the “full frontal teaching” method of large lectures of autocratic seminars, I prefer student-centered teaching that encourages learning by both students and teachers. I favor classroom dynamics that permit dialogue and foster a degree of student input as to curricula and grading criteria. And I like students to think about the class as a community. This means that in both composition and literature classes, I have students spend a fair amount of time in smaller groups in which they not only talk and think together but write together. In keeping with this emphasis on process, I have used the portfolio grading method in my writing courses, and have been pleased by enthusiastic student reactions.
