Degree Program Requirements

Minimum Education: High School Diploma, GED, or completion of 12 semester units from an accredited postsecondary institution or foreign equivalent is required.

You must send original transcripts from U.S. colleges attended directly to IAU. Scanned or photocopied transcripts are not accepted. Transfer credits must be from accredited institutions.

For foreign transcripts, you must provide an official evaluation of their academic credentials. If transcripts are not in English, they must be translated and evaluated by a qualified third party. The evaluator must have expertise in the country’s education system and provide an English translation.

  • Course-By-Course Report – Required for transfer credit consideration.
  • General Report – Required for verifying an earned degree.

School Performance Fact Sheet: This is required by all California residents and F-1 students who reside in California. Initial, date, and sign the School Performance Fact Sheet and submit it in your application. School Performance Fact Sheets can be found here.

Letter of Interest. The Letter of Interest will contain three parts: Personal Statement, Professional Statement, and Research Statement. Each part will be described below.

  1. Personal Statement. Please express in no more than one page how your experience, education, and training qualifies you for admission into the DBA program.
  2. Professional Statement. Please describe in no more than two pages the your interest in the DBA program and your plan to complete it.
    • Why pursue a DBA degree?
    • What significant qualities or experiences will be brought to the DBA program?
    • What are your career aspirations after graduating with a doctorate degree?
    • What obstacles/challenges do you anticipate having to overcome to complete the degree within a reasonable time frame (i.e., 4 years), and what is your plan to address these obstacles/challenges?
    • What concrete steps will be taken to manage your time and balance coursework with a minimum of 18 hours of study each week?
  3. Research Statement. Please describe in no more than three pages your research interests and topics to be pursued.

Two (2) Letters of Recommendation: Letters of recommendation should come from academic or industry professionals who can assess your achievements, leadership, academic potential, communication skills, and teaching ability.

Curriculum Vitae (CV): A CV demonstrating experience and qualifications including a thorough review of your educational background, employment history and highlighting main accomplishments at each position.
