Pros of a student visa

In 2018, it was the third consecutive year that the United States of America had over one million international students who studied there and it was consistently the number one destination for foreign students.

Jennifer Sudweeks, Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. Department of State and is serving as the U.S. Embassy’s non-immigrant visa chief in New Delhi, India, said that international students are very important to the Department of State since they  make important contributions to college and university communities across the U.S. by giving academic cooperation and cultural diversity as they are mixed with regular students.

Students study abroad to build skills and knowledge, to prepare to solve the world’s toughest challenges, and to compete in the 21st century workforce. It may seem that U.S. benefits from having international students, but there are several advantages one may have by getting a student visa and studying abroad.

Visa is for travel; it gives a person the ability to go in and out of the U.S. whereas status is one’s ability to stay in that country. You must have a student visa to study in the United States. This is actually one of the benefits. The course of study and the type of school one plans to attend determine whether an F visa or an M visa is needed. Even if the visa has expired, as long as the school keeps your SEVIS information updated and is properly in status, one may stay in the United States. But then if there is a need to travel, as soon as one leaves the United States, another visa must be secured to come back.

In line with this, if one has the student visa, there is an opportunity to travel freely throughout the US without any concern. Emily Almas, Associate Dean of Admissions, Swarthmore College, encourage students who are studying in the U.S. to take advantage of that opportunity to be able to go and see different parts of the country because it has broad arrays of histories, geographies, cultures and food.

A student visa is one of the really viable options for people to come more quickly through the system and it has its own perks as well.
